Happy Friday,
How was your week?
I write this week from the Tremblant ski hill, having the best time with 2 of my girls skiing and trying to break Lola's skiing speed record, 81km if you were wondering…
Tomorrow is IWD. Every year, I write about it, and I hope my daughters keep running proudly, that one day they won't need this day to fight to be the first but one of many and take the lead.
At Google, we have the Women Lead program for rising women leaders, to which I have dedicated time. This is a way for me to contribute to equipping the next generation of women leaders with the tools, confidence, community, and a lot of girl power to level the leadership playing field.
Each year, cohorts get equipped to build their leadership toolbox and break habits by:
Identified and embraced unique strengths
Build/Unlock self-belief and leadership style
Identify who their "Board of Directors" is and adequately utilize it
Gain insight and growth through coaching and mentorship
But today, I wanted to focus on the community it creates.
Seeing these coworkers come together, share stories, anxieties, laughter, and become allies was heartening. And let me tell you, the 23' and 24' cohort chat groups are still roaring with advice requests, cheering each other on, challenging and supporting each other.
Let's be honest: women are just better when they support each other at work.
The same goes for their personal life. Jane Fonda eloquently says I have my friends; therefore, I am during her Ted Talk with her best friend, Lily. I'm grateful for mine to listen, challenge me, call me out and support me at every step.
And would know who to call if I had to make this one
Building communities, DEI or not, are paramount at work and in life.
I hope this year, too, we get to build another community of confident women—their own fight club if you will.
Ceci told me I wasn't acting like her maman this week, but more like her friend, her best friend (not crying, it's just dusty, pfff) and making me better for it.
Happy Women's Day
See you next week
