Happy Friday,
How was your week? It's been a big one at my house, with big conversations about the right to vote, the duty of voting, and respecting the people's decision. And not easy to explain to my 3 girls, I must say.
When entering the workforce, women are usually evenly distributed compared to men, but this balance shifts dramatically as they try to climb the promotion ladder. Depending on your industry, it can go as high as 15/85, a problem I'm incredibly passionate about solving.
The LEAD program was created two years ago in Canada with a commitment to increasing the representation of women in leadership positions and the pipeline of women ready for leadership positions at Google.
Each year, cohorts get equipped to build their leadership toolbox and break habits by:
Identified and embraced unique strengths
Build/Unlock self-belief and leadership style
Identify who their "Board of Directors" is and adequately utilize it
Gain insight and growth through coaching and mentorship
Over the past few months, it has been heartening to see this group of coworkers come together, share stories, anxieties, and laughter, and realize that their leadership story is their life story.
Since their graduation night, October 22nd, each of these 37 women has proudly posted about their journey and the new community they have found cheering for them.
Dedicating 20% of my corporate time to leading with Kim and Raffy, their coaching and mentorship pillar, has been even more fulfilling than I imagined when I raised my hand to participate. Not only do I feel like I'm making a tangible difference, but I've learned so much from these incredible groups of women.
Women's progress is clear, but there's still a long way to go
And will gladly contribute again next year.
Until then,
See you next week
