Happy Friday, Sippers,

TL;DR | By transitioning from legacy marketing pipeline to a real-time AI "pit crew," brand builders drop execution friction close to zero and win back the strategic time needed to nurture their brand’s ultimate competitive advantage, its soul.

How was your week?

I had the absolute privilege of hosting the 4th Google Marketing Live (GML) Montreal Edition at the Google Montreal office, and then running over to the Palais des congrès to speak at SocialNext Montreal

GML MTL is incredibly dear to me. Seeing so many Montreal brand builders and their agency partners is always a massive feel-good moment. Having too many confirmations is a good problem to have, and just like in the restaurant business, it always magically works out thanks to an army of Googlers volunteering their help or dedicating their valuable time to present, like Laura Pearce, Lorne Heller, Travis Gossen, and Maggie Chen.

We also had the visit of Laurent Dagenais, chef/creator, who explained how his kitchen has gone global, thanks to youtube. He was gracious enough to autograph his new cookbook Always Hungry, while everyone was sipping on his new wines; Toujours Soif.

What a day!

When you spend 48 hours bouncing between the host's podium for a global tech giant and the speaker's stage for local marketing practitioners, you notice something fascinating.

And honestly? It's giving me equal parts existential vertigo and pure marketing excitement. Not because the tech is flashing some shiny new tricks, but because we are looking at a massive operational unlock for brand builders.

We are moving away from treating AI as a passive tool and moving into a world where it functions as a fluid, creative teammate.

🏎️ The Zero-Friction Pipeline | AI as a Member of Your "Pit Crew"

During the sessions at GML, we looked at a striking visual contrast: a Formula 1 pit stop from 2010 versus one from today. In 2010, the pit stop took over 4.5 seconds. Today? It’s a blistering, synchronized 2.08 seconds.

The car didn't change its driver. The pit crew just dropped the friction to absolute zero.

That is exactly how we need to view the new AI marketing pipeline. The traditional advertising workflow is notoriously slow and segmented: you write a client brief, the strategy aligns with the research, the creative team goes into a cave for two weeks, production scrambles, and post-campaign measurement rolls in weeks after the fact. It's a heavy operational tax on our time.

With next-generation capabilities, like using natural language in AI Brief to directly steer automated media or using multimodal generation to instantaneously version creative assets, that execution tax drops close if not to zero.

The Brand Unlock: When you transition AI from a "tool" to a "teammate," you eliminate the constant cognitive drag of toggling between big-picture ideation and granular campaign execution.

It gives agencies and brand builders the ultimate gift: getting their time back. We can finally deliver on the dream of "idea in the morning, ship at night."

🛠️ Meet Your AI Pit Crew

To understand how this partnership works in practice, you have to look at how specific AI "crew members" take over distinct roles along your advertising pipeline to optimize your workflow:

🧠 The Strategists

  • The Mission | Your strategy team has a clear brief but stalls out on fresh insights, or they need to apply ruthless discipline to tie wild creative concepts to hard marketing KPIs.

  • The Crew | Gemini and NotebookLM step in. They function as your divergent partner to throw fuel on creative fire by mining cultural trends, while simultaneously acting as your convergent partner to build logical frameworks that protect brand safety.

🎨 The Visionaries (Breaking Content Bottlenecks)

  • The Mission | Moving from an abstract brief to high-fidelity, studio-quality visuals and cinematic video concepts without the wait.

  • The Crew | Imagen and Veo take on the heavy lifting of early-stage concepting. They translate natural language prompts into rich visual assets instantly, letting you see where the creative is going before booking a single studio hour.

  • You should also play with DeepMind new toy; Gemini Omni

⚙️ The Mechanics (High-Velocity Scale)

  • The Mission | Your production team is scoped for a handful of assets, but to win across streaming and search, you need to scale the campaign across multiple formats, regions, and platforms without draining your budget.

  • The Crew | Google Ads Asset Studio steps up to scale and version creatives effortlessly, while intelligent ad formats like AIMax, PMax and Demand Gen handle automated real-time delivery.

⏱️ The Data Analysts (The Creative Flywheel)

  • The Mission | Eliminating the slow, post-campaign retrospective so you can see exactly which granular elements of your moving creative are driving actual business results.

  • The Crew | Gemini and AI Formats evaluate live creative assets against real performance metrics. This creates an instantaneous measurement flywheel, giving you the real-time insights needed to iterate performant creative assets rapidly.

🎯 The Formula | Speed, Scale, and Soul

When I shifted over to the SocialNext stage, the conversation naturally flowed into what an optimized pit crew means for long-term growth. If AI makes hyper-efficiency accessible to every competitor in your market, execution itself becomes commoditized.

If everyone has access to rapid speed and massive scale, how do you actually win? The formula comes down to three things:

  • Speed | Moving at the speed of culture. By using your AI pit crew member to slash development time, you can deploy real-time, contextual creative exactly when and where consumer behavior shifts.

  • Scale | Breaking volume bottlenecks. You can seamlessly expand your reach across platforms, like leveraging YouTube, which viewers officially rank as the #1 platform for watching creator content, without blowing your production budget.

  • Soul | Your ultimate, defensive competitive advantage. Your brand's Soul is the piece that cannot be automated. It’s the deep customer empathy, the distinct brand equity, and the emotional connection that makes a consumer willing to pay a premium for your product because it's a name they know and trust.

The tech is handing us the infrastructure to handle the speed and scale. By delegating those operational workflows to our new AI pit crew members, we get to pull ourselves out of the administrative weeds and reallocate energy and time where it actually moves the needle: nurturing the soul of the brand.

☕ The Sip Takeaway ☕ 🍷🍸

The Sip | Stop looking at AI as an execution box you have to check, and start looking at it as a high-velocity pit crew member designed to free up your calendar. Let the tech build the high-speed engine.

Use the time it gives you back to remember why you fell in love with marketing in the first place, to build brands with a soul that people actually care about.

The sandbox is open.

Let's go play.

See you next week,
